Tip 2: Web tips your can not live without!
By My Design Doctor

Let us now look at how to maximise your website content and site functions to achieve a website worth having.

If you have read Tip 1, your most likely have ideas as to how your website will fit into your overall sales and marketing strategy. Your website needs a permanent use or else it will become redundant.

Solutions:
1. Get Customer Attention
You need to engage your customers from their initial contact with your website.
a) Don't be fooled into thinking an attractive splash page will attract their attention. Quite the opposite! Splash pages only deter customers who do not have time to waste!
b) Give them a good reason to keep on reading and navigate around your site. One of the best ways is to answer commonly asked questions on the front page. Write good copy and direct them straight to the pages they are looking for.

2. Keep in Touch
After you've got their attention, it;s now time to give them confidence in your service or products. You can clearly match products to specific needs by offering tips and advice. It's a give and take situation.
Subscriptions are great ways to get potential customers in constant contact with you. Get customers to submit their emails on your website to receive discounts, monthly offers or freebies to keep them in touch.
Alternatively, have a constantly changing offer on your main page that will get them book-marking your web page and revisitng our site frequently. If the customer is genuinely interested in your service or product they will want to the first be told about your product and offers.

3. Long Term Use
If this is the first time you are putting a website up for your business, it may be hard to know what you will need from your website and from your web server provider. So here are some helpful things to consider:
a) If you want the ability to update your text content in the future you will need a server provider that can support ASP sites and provide Microsoft SQL services. Your website will then need to be designed with additional feature pages for Self Content Management.
b) If you want customers to buy from you on-line, then you will need a website designed with E-Commerce Functions. Click here to see example. This is a fantastic way to make sales whilst you rest or do other useful things for your business.
If you want customers to find you under search engines such as Google or Yahoo, you will need to get your website to rank higher up in search result pages. This means the way your web pages are structured, primary key words and links on your website, all come into play. These are one fo the best ways to improve your chance of being found potential customers.

4. Fuctional Works Best
Don't lose customers because you've used Flash animation on your site. These take time to load on slower office computers and not everyone has Macromedia Flash installed to view the animations. Concentrate on creating functional HTML sites that are clear and attractive.

5. Let's Get Started!
Lastly your sales and marketing methods will be a main determinant in the way your copy reads, how you create relationships with potential customers, and on the way your website is sectioned. Through My Design Doctor's planning process, these can be identified to create a website that will convert potential customers into purchasing customers. You will not regret this in the long run!
